Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) has confirmed that its IATA Travel Pass trial will begin on the Kuala Lumpur – Jeddah route on April 19, 2021.

The IATA Travel Pass is a mobile application that will allow passengers to create digital passports where test and vaccine data can be uploaded and shared securely, to ensure that government health requirements are met at points of departure and of destination.

Importantly, the app also significantly reduces the risk of using fake vaccine certificates and / or COVID19 test results to get on a flight.

Customers traveling with Saudia will be able to visit a designated laboratory in Malaysia to complete the PCR test requirements, which can then be uploaded to the IATA Travel app before flying to Saudi Arabia.

After the trial and once the IATA Travel Pass is finalized, it will be rolled out across the airline’s entire network.

“Saudia is keen to partner with IATA in this innovative digital solution that will help guide industry recovery and facilitate the travel process for all stakeholders, the passenger, airline, test labs. and border authorities ”, said Mr. Khalid Albassam, Commercial Director of Saudia. “Saudia continues to lead the way in safety and ease of travel measures with electronic solutions and the IATA Travel Pass partnership is another reinforcement that preparation and use of contactless methods is the way forward for travelers. travel trips’
