According to the travel app, people aged 16-25 are missing out on £ 450million per year by not taking advantage of a 16-25 digital rail card. Trainline’s survey of 1,000 Britons in this age group found that 36% of them admitted not owning one. The survey found that even people without a digital rail pass expected to travel at least six times a month starting in September.
About 40 percent of those polled said their immediate friends and family don’t have one either.
Those eligible for a discount card can pay for their train tickets using their digital train card and keep their digital tickets on the Trainline app.
Immediately after purchasing a 16-25 rail card, travelers will be able to reduce their train ticket costs by a third to all UK destinations.

Milena Nikolic, Chief Technology Officer at Trainline, reminds young people to take advantage of this generous rail discount.
“With many young people about to return to their place of study or work in September, we want to raise awareness of the great savings young people can achieve by simply subscribing to a 16-25 digital train card.
“Our data shows that many more people could save money on their train journeys and now it’s easier than ever.”
In Trainline’s survey, 65% of young Britons said they think saving for their future is a priority, even more than socializing with friends at 44% and their education at 43%.
Of that group, 82 percent of those polled said they would buy a rail pass if they knew the money-saving benefits it would have.
As part of its research into UK train travel discounts, Trainline has published a list of the top ten regions that fail to save with a digital 16-25 rail card.
London topped the list with around £ 162million in train ticket savings to be won, while the Midlands and Scotland took second and third place respectively.
